Our History

The founding coven of our Tradition is Isis Urania which was established in Vancouver, Canada, in the early 1960s and subsequently moved to Toronto where it formed a number of daughter covens. Apollonius-Mithras, who was our High Priest for almost twenty years, was trained both by Janus-Mithras, High Priest of Isis Urania, and by Nuit-Hilaria and Mer-Amun, High Priestess and High Priest of Isis Faria.

In 2000 a group of friends began meeting at the home of Apollonius-Mithras in Montreal, discussing Western Magick, Hermetica, the Golden Dawn, and Traditional Wicca as well as some Eastern Mystery systems. The desire to establish a Traditional Wicca coven arose out of these meetings, and Isis Hathor was formed in 2004. The group went through many changes throughout the years, making brothers and sisters along the way.

Asherah, the current High Priestess, was initiated in 2004 and practiced alongside Apollonius-Mithras for some years. In August 2020, Apollonius-Mithras passed away unexpectedly,  leaving us to care for each other and the teachings that he transmitted. Thoth-Hermes was chosen as the new High Priest in 2021.

Since the pandemic of 2020, our group has found new ways of keeping in contact with members abroad. We are fortunate to be in contact with former members who continue on their personal paths and other Coven of our tradition that generously share their wisdom.

Isis Hathor remains true to the Mystery religion focus of Traditional Wicca. Some of these teachings can be found on the articles page of this site. A more complete account can be found in Wicca the Ancient Way,
by Janus-Mithras.
